What's Happening in South Deschutes County

Beelicious has opened in La Pine with a new creative menu from one of the best professionals in restaurant management with more than 20 years of experience in cooking Thai and Asian Fusion food.

Cascade Auto Glass recently opened a new location in La Pine. Since the business started in 1993, they have replaced over 750,000 windshields. Cascade Auto Glass has grown steadily over the years, expanding from their original Portland, Oregon location to more markets throughout the US.

Exclusive Imports just recently opened a full-service auto repair shop in La Pine, specializing in imported vehicles.

Landmarks Unlimited recently opened in Sunriver, manufacturing souvenirs featuring natural wonders, cities, coastal towns, and bridges in Oregon, California, Washington, and beyond.

Oregon is sending a total of $35 million in grant funding to 30 projects across the state designed to support workforce training in high-demand industries. It’s the largest round of funding awarded so far under the Future Ready Oregon plan approved by state lawmakers in 2022.

The SLED Annual Luncheon is scheduled for April 3rd at Sunriver Resort. Dr. Sherm Bloomer, Chancellor and Dean of OSU-Cascades is the keynote speaker. Details will be provided in February!

La Pine is the Second Fastest Growing City in Oregon

Portland State University (PSU) has published the 2023 population statistics for cities in the State of Oregon. La Pine is the second fasted growing community in Oregon, moving up from seventh on the list in 2022.

In the last ten years (2013-2023) La Pine has grown 87.19%, compared with the Deschutes County population increase of 30.53%. PSU’s current conservative projections estimate La Pine will grow by another 87% over the next 25 years.

Permitting Activity in South Deschutes County

Deschutes County issued 142 building permits in La Pine for the 4th quarter of 2023. Of those, eight were for single-family dwellings, and one was for new commercial building construction.

During the same period, in the rest of South Deschutes County, 513 building permits were issued. Of those, 25 were for single-family dwellings, 22 were for additions, one was for new commercial building construction, and three were for commercial building additions.
