There are over 30 aviation companies employing nearly 1,000 people in Central Oregon. The industry benefits greatly from the region's clear skies, technical expertise and world-class carbon fabrication talent. The rising cost of fuel has spurred the development of lighter, more economical aircraft, and this segment is growing nationally at a rate of 20% annually, with local companies like Epic Aircraft, RDD Enterprises and Stratos Aircraft leading new innovations in the field.

Boasting over 300 days of sunshine and an arid climate, Central Oregon's climate helps to minimize corrosion risks for metal components and prevent static electricity buildup.

Flight Training Programs

Some of the most successful flight training programs in the country are located in the region with both fixed-wing and helicopter flight schools that serve the global industry, including Leading Edge and Central Oregon Community College.

Employment Growth

Bend-based aircraft manufacturer Epic Aircraft more than doubled its employment base between 2022-2024 to meet growing demand, now representing roughly 45% of total aviation employment for the region.
