Tom Barrett

Past Experience: Tom was a flight controls controls design engineer at Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, before moving to Bend in 2001 to pursue his outdoor interests (including skiing, bicycling, and hiking). He founded BendTel in 2003, and has been its CEO ever since.
Civic Involvement: Tom supports a variety of civic organizations including the Bethlehem Inn, the Boys & Girls Club, and Habitat for Humanity. He occasionally writes telecommunications articles for industry publications.

Past Experience: Connie has owned and operated Express Employment Professionals in Central Oregon for 30 years and has 35 years of experience in the staffing industry. Connie started the Bend Express Personnel and Express Professional Staffing office in 1983 and opened the Redmond Express office in 1999. She is one of the original 20 franchisees of Express Employment Professionals. Today, there are approximately 658 offices worldwide.
Through Connie’s leadership, the Bend and Redmond offices have continued to win international awards and are in the top tier of recruiting firms across the country. This was illustrated by Connie and her staff’s designation as Franchisee of the Year in 2003. In 2005, Connie received Express Employment Professionals’ prestigious Gordon Blair Heritage Award in recognition of her extraordinary enthusiasm, positive attitude, and significant contributions to the organization. Carolyn Eagan

Past Experience: Eagan worked as the Regional Economist for Central Oregon and South Central Oregon with the Oregon Employment Department. In that position, she produced and analyzed employment trends, including the unemployment rate and monthly job growth in the region’s major industries. She has been a member of both Redmond Economic Development Inc. and the Bend Economic Development Advisory Board. Eagan has been consulted by economists and journalists nationwide on analysis pertaining to Bend’s economy.
Civic Involvement: Board Chair for Commute Options for Central Oregon, Bend’s Transportation Safety Advisory Committee and was integral in forming the City’s Road User Safety Task Force.

Alana Hughson

Past Experience: Alana Hughson has a background in public and legislative policy having worked on Capitol Hill as a Legislative Director in the House of Representatives for nearly a decade. Hughson returned to her hospitality roots, as well as her home town of Bend, in 1993 and took the helm at the Central Oregon Visitors Association as President/CEO.

Past Experience: Mae was a customer service professional for H&R Block. She also worked for Earth20 and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. She worked as the administrative secretary for the Rockwood Water Public Utility District Board of Directors for 11 years.
Civic Involvement: She was a part of the campaign for a friend who ran for the Oregon Legislature. After her friend was elected, she volunteered in the state representative office. She has served on the boards for the Madras Area Community Action Team and the Culver Urban Renewal District.

Past Experience: Ms. Huycke moved to Bend in 2006 following years of family vacations in the region. During law school Ms. Huycke clerked for Feibleman & Case, a family law firm in Salem. Through this opportunity Ms. Huycke gained valuable experience in civil litigation. Upon joining Francis Hansen & Martin, Ms. Huycke has directed her focus to corporate law. She has experience in many different areas ranging from drafting of simple wills to large business sales.

Past Experience: Rebecca L. (Becky) Johnson, Ph.D., is vice president of Oregon State University – Cascades Campus, serving as the campus executive and reporting directly to the provost and executive vice president of Oregon State University.
Prior to coming to OSU-Cascades, Dr. Johnson had built a nearly 25-year career at Oregon State University, most recently, as vice provost for academic affairs and international programs. Prior to her appointment as vice provost, Dr. Johnson was the associate dean for academic affairs and international programs in the OSU College of Forestry. She joined OSU as an assistant professor and holds the rank of full professor in the College of Forestry.
